Two pieces of work that I am proud of:
I think that I like "What Really Happened" the article that I wrote the best. Writing newspaper style i found, is hard for me. The style of getting to the point was hard for me to grasp since I have always been taught in the "length for a grade" example, 2 page paper. Having no guideline like that was hard, I like this one because I learned the most.
My Blog:
Through this blog I have first learned how to use blogger, next I learned more about current events. The blogs that I write are usually based on an article that I wrote. I have sometimes read an article that interests me and then I had an idea or a concept that I hadn't considered before. I feel more aware of my surroundings because I have put myself in a position where I have to learn on my own and understand articles enough to write a blog entry on them.

Change did come, But where from?
Advertising is a major part of the human life. We advertise products, services, and because of this have to prove who we are.
A product such as clothes is one way humans identify themselves. There are many different styles and with that, people who like it and don’t. An example of this is the "professional look". When going to a job interview, meeting, or something of that nature there is a type of attire that we wear, to show we are serious. This is not to say that clothes change who you are but it is what humans help judge what professional is. This along with other stereotypes only last until you meet that person (with sometimes preconceived ideas about them). That is when judgment comes into play. To decide if that person is actually professional, following another stereotype pushed on by humans.
With everything having already preconceived ideas behind it and when clothes are worn for a type of style, it is not hard for me to believe “he’s not black” and the points she makes. “We are so racially backward that we insist on calling him black.” With the society that we live in, where looks are central to the social life, a presentation, only by an emotion that we let this exist. We have proven that color of skin doesn’t matter. We have in January, a “black” president. This is a huge improvement because, of the color of your skin years ago would determine if you were a slave, or a slave owner. Even after, they were fed by emotion and racism still being around. The majority of the United States is past that.
“Progress has outpaced vocabulary.”-Marie Arana. Vocabulary is very important and a simple conjunction changes the entire meaning. It does not matter if Mr. Obama in his family genealogy was enslaved during that time but because of a color in his skin now, holds no difference weather we elect him or not.
When we start at a young age being exposed to ideas of what is right and wrong, can we not expect the outcome of stereotypes?
When we choose to ignore who a person is and determine by first judgment who that person is, everyone will miss the chance to make friends.
It is really up to the growing generation to place the United States where it is, just as the people voted this year the generation before them raised them, the change did come, but from where?

Trash, Trash, Trash. Blame the Complainers
On November 22, 2008, community members gathered at Dog Beach in Ocean Beach to clean up trash. The number one litter found, as usual, cigarettes.
"Cigarette butts are the most littered item in The United States and the world." States the Surfrider Foundation.
Along with picking up trash, the people were given a paper to tally the types of trash they picked up and how much. That day 514 pounds of trash was collected. Walking around there was not big sized trash but small pieces. What I noticed was there was a lot of cigarette butts on the beach. I thought about the fact that they are illegal until the age of 18, and illegal on the beach. Because the age is 18, this is saying that with age comes responsibility, yet it is the number one litter.
It takes 10-12 years for a cigarette to decompose and there is some plastic in them that will never. Marine life, sea gulls and kids have all been witnessed incorporating them into their life. Marine life ingest them, sea gulls make nests with them and kids are using them with their sand castles.
A man smoking on the beach right by the lifeguard tower said, "There's signs everywhere," he said calling it "a bunch of crap."
There is two ways as always to take this, one being cigarettes are not that big of a deal and the other is they don't even pick up after themselves. "Cigarettes: 1.7 billion pounds of trash" coming from the Chicago Tribune. This is a lot of trash that marine life are eating, a way to stop this and protect the marine life is to throw away your trash.

Pass By, He Will Wait
The Cardboard sign, he holds up his prison number.
Numbers are letters spelling “Spare Change”
The world you love holds the streets he’s trapped in.
Don’t count the begs you here, its like crying tears
They never seem to stop until slumber reaches.
You’re in your nice house filled with material desires
He’s still on the street, everyone he meets,
Another reason to tear up.
By the dusted roads swept,
He sits and waits for the sun to rise.
He sits and waits for the day to activate.
He sits and waits for an indication of freedom.
He waits.
Grace is not given
Sadness known only to the suffer and half way to the witness.
He ignores the idea of blame and gets strait to the reason.
To the path that leads to the pit his father dug. He stumbles, he falls.
A reason so bad not even the rocks thrown at him know for sure what happened.
You hold the constitute of pride. Wanting him to sign it. Looking
For self-pleasure you ignore others life’s trying to clutch the life you have,
His life you’ve forgotten.
I am grateful that I do not have everything I want. I have warmth from the cold and a comprehensive mind. I could loose everything material, and I can still be happy. The way I look at life and the situations that arise, it is the moment when I choose to be positive or negative, It is that moment that I am grateful for, I have a choice on the way I live my life, that's all I need. No matter what my heritage is, I have my name, my time to make use of, my goals to set and achieve.

H2O project
Discoveries:
I am learning about dolphins and I need to work on finding more information. I need to also understand more about Crystal Pier, this will help me in my research. My discoveries are more for planing.
Surprises:
how much freedom I get. I really like how I have time in class to work. I get a lot done. It is really nice to have time in class.
Next I should.....
do some hard core research.

Striving To Reflect In My Work
I would like to take concepts from this picture and incorporate it into my H2O project. Since I will be working on the food chain and its importance, I like the way it is easy to understand the way it works in this picture. I will base my food chain off of the animals used in this picture. Another thing that I like is the amount of information given. I think that in my food chain, I don't want to have the information in the picture but in my artist statement.
I read about the food chain in a article on-line. I like how the picture had multiple ways the chain could go. This gives information that I didn't get from the last example. I think that this is a good goal for me, to get as much information as possible, however I think I will focus on the basics first. Another thing that I liked was this food chain was a good example of information in sentence form with the picture. When I start writing my artist statement, I will look at this for a way to explain in a easy way to understand.

My Thought, My Feelings, try to change me but I mold to what I believe
How do I feel about the election? So glad it's over. Even though propaganda is always around, there is something about the ad's I see trying to deceive people to hate another party. For an example, Democrat and Republic. Since I have my beliefs and they don't mirror what my peers think talking is almost impossible. News reporters use a technique where even if something is 99% right and 1% wrong they focus on the 1% and expand upon that. With no human being perfect, news reporters have it pretty easy. I cannot focus in such a negative setting. Since I am taking United States history this year, with the elections over I finally get a new setting, change is going to be good. (Yes I know Change is Obama's slogan).
I must say, I am glad prop eight passed. This is not because I believe that we should not give only certain people rights (which is not what the prop is about) but it is because I don’t believe in change for no reason. Marriage, between a man and a woman as stated in the bible is a religious concept. People who chose to break the definition of marriage have a civil union. Given the same rights, just a different name. I do not believe that gay's, and lesbians really lost anything at all, they have their rights, still. Christians however stuck to what they believe. With no help from Celebrities no donations from major companies the people fought for what they believe in. Not only that but this is a perfect example of democracy giving the power to the people. The prop passed and that is what America is for, the people.
My Hopes: That we will not pull out of the war. Once again, I don't believe in war unless necessary. For the average person, and me I don't know everything that is going on in the war, but I don't need to. There are things going on there that need to be done. I don't have evidence but I have the most discredited evidence ever, faith. If America pulls out of the war, a man with the heart of gold: Mr. Burdileno his life that he lost in an ambush in Iraq will be in vain. Every Sunday he was suppose to be there to make me laugh and teach me, he wasn’t because he gave his life to faith. If nothing is accomplished, nothing is gained. The pain I have been through will only serve as a sore spot I will then have with the government. I hope that if we do pull out of the war it will not be to make the people who don't know what is going on happy, but because we made a difference for the good. My hope is that the people who are so selfish as to say what's in it for me when people across the seas are suffering waiting for a sustain government these people across the seas there only hope is The United States of America.

there and there but their not aware
Human knowledge of interaction and effects to the animals.
This is something that I am interested in learning about. With everything that is man made, there is reson for me to believe that these items are not suppose to be in the environment. "Coal-burning power plants are the largest U.S. source of carbon dioxide pollution " stated the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC). My reason is with the growing of the industries, The world's cleaning system is breaking down. An effect is Southern California has seen in 2003 and 2007 wildfires. Because the world is getting hotter, things are drying up and igniting this not only effects humans and their houses but, all the animals who's habitat is now gone. For example San Diego imports 80% of the water they use, so it may not have seemed like water was a crisis but for animals and plants who use the San Diego's watershed, this was. When humans are in trouble, we have shelters for them, news reports, support. Experiencing the 2007 fires was really the first time I ever comprehended human desperation. News reports covered Qualcomm and the people flocking to it as well as other shelters. At the time I did not realize that when the TV would change news casters to brush being burnt the plants effected the CO2 being emitted and the animals habitat being destroyed.
The amount of human interaction with animals
The amount of interaction with anything could be discarded. For example the amount of time someone uses a pencil in a day, simple but I never counted. Another example is how many times I passed a bug in my house or outside. I get the impression that the general public has no idea how much they interact with other living things. One reason that I have concluded this is the simple shrike from a frightened human. I have experienced when going camping, girls have come screaming to me to get a spider out of their tent. After the spider or other insect has been removed from the sight of the traumatized girl, the stressed is immediately removed. Do these girls that I have been around realize that bugs are all around them? that those itchy red circles on all over them are from bugs biting them? Awareness is the key. Going back to the pencil example, I buy a pack of pencils and am good for a while but never know for sure when I will need to get more. Well the state the world is in, we cannot get a new planet when we ruin this one. When the animals have gone extinct because human advance in technology the food chain will be gone and without the awareness of why we need the food chain we could very well kill ourselves with our own weapons.

2008 Headache
Historically, I feel the 2008 presidential debates have gone down hill. I almost feel offended. Like the fact that long ago they could have conversations and act maturely about differences. I think that hearing all of this stuff about politics and debating has done one thing really for me, shown me that I would go insane if I ever tried to follow what 2008 candidates were saying and trying to get across. This is another change, even if I were at the level of the apparent "average citizen" or as Palin said "soccer mom" I think just as I have a hard time watching a lot of sitcoms, I cannot watch a lot of debates without getting a headache or falling asleep.

Where did the meaning go?
The Presidential debates, along with modern society have taken a turn. When the Lincoln-Douglas debates took place, well-developed ideas were spoken.
With instant gratification and perfection; what Americans expect from the presidents, pressure is the key ingredient to a good news story. Take for example the time allotted for each of the candidates for the 2008 elections. Are you familiar with presentations? Ones that only last about 15 minutes? Well from my experience of watching many of these I can see that many high school students can lip service their way through. The candidates for 2008 had approximately 2 to 3 minutes to talk about one subject. With enough um, likes, dramatic pauses and blinking anyone could pass with at least a satisfactory grade. I believe that the historical change in the debates, one being crucial; time. The Lincoln-Douglas debates had about an hour and thirty minutes to talk about one to two topics. In this of course they could wander off topic but the audience also noted this. Also today we have a lot more problems that have a broad range when back at the Lincoln-Douglas debates talked mostly about Slavery, the economics, morals, and states rights.

See, Hear, Repeat.
I was asked the question, "How has the Internet affected the way that Americans approach democracy? How do the Internet and its effects fit into the historical context of technology and democracy in America?"
The First question seems pretty obvious, with more resources at the tips of any ones fingers, as easy as pressing the enter key and information is almost instantly given. This has a lot to do with the availability of the Internet. Because information is so easy (and with websites like blogger where it is free) to post, there is a lot of stuff said that is wrong. There is a website; factcheck.org that tries to set the truth straight. The reason that I bring this up is because in democracy every person votes for every issue, sometimes trying to figure out what is true from false is hard. If I were to base my views on what I read on the Internet, there is a chance that it will not be true or only a small portion will be right. Trying to inform "the people" about what is true or sometimes trying to bend the truth which is also very easy to do.
Historically, the Internet is very new. Just in my years I have seen technology advance to heights I couldn't at the time imagine possible. There are a lot of connections that could be made about the decline in our country and the up bringing of technology. I can say that myself being a living example of this, I learn more and get less distracted when reading a book or doing activities that are more socially involved then "surfing the internet". Also it takes months to publish a book so when it is published it has gone through a lot of revisions and just like this blog which is on the internet, my blog has only been revised once, now twice.

Reflection for Newspaper
What did I like?
I think that I like "What Really Happened" the article that I wrote the best. Writing newspaper style i found, is hard for me. The style of getting to the point was hard for me to grasp since I have always been taught in the "length for a grade" example, 2 page paper. Having no guidline like that was hard, I like this one because I learned the most.
What would I improve?
Obituaries. I liked doing this part better but since I did it to fill space, I didnt take as much time looking at it as extra work, more creative writing. I am also not sure how historically accroute the stories are.
How did I manage my time?
10.6.08
I found out what the debates were about
where they took place
wrote and typed
found my topic (summary of debate)
10.8.08
I wrote a lot about my topic. I got a better understanding of what I am supost to do for homework. I read more of the debate (this is the most time consuming). My group has a plan for the rest of the project.
10.12.08
I finished the obituaries today. I also got a picture to go along. then I made an ad. This took up the entire time allotted.

Point, wait, Shoot
2008 Street Scene
I feel this picture expresses good composition. The person is off to the side. Then he is holding a saxophone, the instrument is pointing towards the center, drawing, at least my eyes to the rest of the picture.

Depth of View: In this picture, the bird is on focus. Because of this, It would seem that the viewer is looking at the bird and everything else is far away.
San Diego Zoo 2008
Color and Filling the Screen: This picture, the Flower fills the frame, for the most part. There is some negative space in between the petals. The color in this picture is the white and pink contrast for the main subject. Then in the background, there is black and green, colors that go together and contrast with white and pink.
2008 Street Scene
Lighting: The picture I found the lighting to be of good use. The man is wearing a tan shirt, and the lighting is yellows, pinks, and a little green. His hair is also blond. I think that because all the colors are similar it makes the picture look like it ties together and in place.
My Eye 2006
Macro photography: I am not sure still what this means but I have gathered that it means something up close. Well this is up close. The centering of the picture gives the impression that someone is staring at the viewer.
Teddy Bear 2008
Eye level: when looking at the teddy bear normally, you would see him to be small a normal size teddy bear. However, when zoomed in on, the bear would seem to be as big as the picture.
Pictures That I Find Interesting:

All the pictures for this blog I took personally, except the last, that was taken by my friend.

What's New? Don't ask the news.
In Joneboro, Illinois, Lincoln debated Douglas for the 3rd time, addressing topics such as common powers, and territory with unions.
Douglas said, "[I] wish to ask you whether that principle was right or wrong which guarantied to every State and every community the right to form and regulate their domestic institutions to suit themselves."
Mr. Douglas expressed his opinion consisting of the idea of the United States should have "popular sovereignty", allowing the state residents to create laws pertaining to their area.
"He [Lincoln] says that they must all become free or all become slave, that they must all be one thing or all be the other, or this Government cannot last."
Lincoln believed in a federalist government where states have rights, just Lincoln wants more regulation. This debate discusses the conflict between the two ideas.
My initial thoughts when comparing to the 2008 Presidential debates: what happened? I have never been into politics nor does it interest me now. But looking at it from the perspective of I want to get something out of this motto, I cannot say I get anything more then a nice nap when hearing the rise and fall in intonation of the 2008 candidates. This could be due to the need for instant response to cover up mistakes that the media pushes on the candidates that turns me off, or the down right pressure of proving people WRONG I feel has been adapted in the news reporting style. If I made the calls, something would change to something that anyone present in Illinois to hear the Lincoln-Douglas debate in 1858 would say sounds oddly familiar. Well though out answers, structure to (like how a country should be run) and sensible.

Comparing the demographics of two different zip codes that border water in San Diego country. What do I notice? What interests me?
Notice:
* That a group of people of the same race will gather together and even though there is a variety
* Of other races there is a big jump between the amounts of people.
* There is usually about the same amount of males to females.
Interests me: I think that because I never thought about demographics before, I wasn't shocked or surprised or even intrigued about any of it. I think that if I were to have to research anything on this subject I would want to know why people group like (intellectual vs. ignorant) does school cliques have anything to do with this. Is this a problem or just facts on a subject. What is the motive for keeping such data?

what does marriage mean? now and in the past.
Varying from place to place, issues are different. Due to environment and culture problems arise. When writing the laws for the United States, this was an issue that they had to address. Should we take a federalist stand or an anti federalist? In the end states got the right to make their own laws.
A recent issue in the state of California is the definition of marriage. There is two ways to look at this; one is the federalist way, the other anti federalist way. The federalists want the law to be the same across the county. The anti federalist way of looking at it is to have the law vary state to state. For Marriage the reasons are similar to the reason in the civil war. For marriage, one way to look at why having gay marriage be legal in one state vs. all is that this would mean people would need to travel and not get married in places that they wanted to if it was outside the country. This would eliminate people that maybe weren't a serious making them commit more to getting married.
In the civil war the issue was slavery. In the south, slaves were legal. In the north slaves were illegal. This was an anti federalist stand since the law wasn’t the same throughout the country. Having slaves was considered the easy way. Not having to do the work just forcing someone else to do it. Part of the reason that half the country was spilt is the same reason as gay marriage. It would be a sacrifice to move everything. However in the end we went to war. I don't think that the marriage law will take us to the next civil war because of the last civil war. We learned how to address issues like this and keep it constitutional. By having the people vote for what they want.

These are all rights I have stated in the Bill of Rights. But is it possible that when this amendment was written there were things that the writers could have never imagined would be a problem in the future? I say yes. They already knew this. That is why we have the 9th amendment. The ninth amendment declares that any right not stated in the bill of rights is given to the people.

a reflective blog on blogging. proud. improve. understand.
What am I most proud of?
Going into this project I knew very little about blogs. I could make a comment on others but that was it. Because I didn't know a lot, I had to learn. I am happy with the outcome of my blog and posts. I have learned about the program and how to personalize it. Since this is a ongoing project, this will help me in future blogs maintaining the look I want my blog to look like. Another reason I am proud of my blog for is, I didn't really realize how open blogs are to the public. I know everyone could see but I didn't think anyone would look at mine. My blog is open to the public so I do have to keep that in mind as i write. I think that I have done a fair job at this and hopefully shown different views and made people think about what I wrote.
What could I improve on?
There is always room for improvement. I know that my blog needs a lot. I understand that I have only got a small amount of information about topics this could be due to the date it was due. However what I "blog" about is usually something I am interested in and not only would it be beneficial to continue to do research to support my claims, but I would at the same time come to be more aware of the world around me.
Has blogging really made me that more aware of the world?
well let me think...humm my main intrests are guitar, arts, sports, friends. All of these have to do with a world perspective but I never really thought of it that way. Applying what I already am intrested and seeing how it relates to the world, insted of just to the places I go to create a blog that expresses my opionions....i would have to say yes. blogging has helped me think more on a larger scale.

streching truths like saltwater taffy
Factcheck.org a website put up to clear rumors and to double check what people say.
Not Pictured Here
August 12, 2008
Some of the articles that I have read are clearing up what the presidential candidates have said, others clear up what the news have said. In the "Not Pictured Here" article a news reporter made it seem that the people in the picture were lobbyist. This however turned out to not be true. Though it would have made an interesting story it is a lie. The things that news reporters say are to sell a story, to grasp the viewer’s attention. This is how they get paid, from viewers. So why say things the people watching wont like or be interested in, that doesn't make money.

But The students don't feel theatened by the KKK.....
(Continued from last Blog)
Hours Later published by Paul P. Quinn "UM students not threatened by Klan’s possible appearance"
Summary of the Article:
This article was written the same day that "An open letter to the KKK" was published. What struck me about this article is it was the student’s point of view. The students didn't seem worried about the KKK arriving at a debate about the presidential candidates.
The same day though a letter saying the KKK’s views are not respected by the Daily Mississippian (the news paper that represents the school). At the same time inviting them to go to a debate where a black man is running for president! But the KKK's views are not respected.
The KKK Emperor said that they WILL arrive, but dressed like everyone else. The daily Mississippian has an interesting comment to that...
“That means our people won’t be in regalia or demonstrating. So, I guess you’ll just have to guess which of the people present are Klansmen,” The Daily Mississippian reported on Friday, Sept. 15.
Could this be inviting the people attending the debate to stereotype the people there to try and "figure out" whom the KKK are? The KKK is for white power, The Mississippian clam that they are for equality. The KKK stereotypes people of different races and religion to be not worthy of them. The Daily Mississippian is now inviting people to stereotype others. Isn't this a little hypocritical? Should we not respect the Daily Mississippian Paper because they have a fixed idea of who these people are at least enough to pick them out of a crowd!
This blog is based on my views, what I have read off of The Daily Mississippian website, and what I have learned about in my Humanities class. I am open to hearing everyone's view and considering what they have to say.

"The KKK took my baby away" -the clash
This blog is about pertains to:
Daily Mississippian
"An open letter to the KKK"
Summary:
The Basic point of this letter is to tell the Ku Klux Klan they are not wanted on the University of Mississippi campus. The reason for this letter is to tell the KKK that they are not welcome to express their thoughts through the school, examples of this is the school newspaper and wall space. This to me brings up two points one the first amendment and two the declaration of independence.
The First Amendment states the right to freedoms such as freedom of speech and religion. Would not letting the KKK members express themselves be unconstitutional? The daily Mississippian is aware of this amendment and writes:
"We want to be clear: we have utmost respect for your right to express your views, but we have no respect whatsoever for those views. You may attempt to defile our beautiful campus by shouting your twisted viewpoints from the top of your lungs. No one will listen."
This reminds me of another thing that I learned in Humanities, Federalism. "An open letter to the KKK" Article is written by 5 people. Though I do not know the exact amount of people that attend this school I know it is more then 10. Which would make this article an anti-federalist view of the KKK. Even if more people agreed there are only five names that "signed" the article (this can be found at the bottom of the page that the original article came from).
The last point that I would like to make is that the declaration was about declaring independence form Great Brittan. In this article the editorial board is trying to separate the school with being associated with the KKK. This could be for the same reasons as the founding fathers of the United States had (people that they didn't have problems with they now did because they are known to be with this group, also threats, and fear). The Daily Mississippian wrote an open letter what follows because of this in my opinion going to be very interesting!

9.11.2001 (Revised)
“Sens. John McCain and Barack Obama called off their campaigns for the day, and in the late afternoon descended the long ramp into the pit of the trade center site, bowing their heads and leaving the flowers in a reflecting pool.”
An article "Some find other ways to mourn on 9/11 anniversary"
http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2008/09/12/america/Sept-11-Anniversary-Optional.php
This sort of makes me mad. In the article it says that McCain and Obama called off their campaigns for the day, which is the respectful thing to do. This is not a day for politics, but do they really have the right to go down in the pit of the trade center.
Right now I feel like anything they do is based on what the public will see of them. Do they really know how all these people felt when seeing them crash? It feels very political for the presidential candidates going down. Anyone can put on a sad face and act respectful, but how on earth are we to know what the candidates truly think? Will we ever? It is hard to say that what the candidates for president do is only to impress the public but I really don't think they deserve the right to go down to the pits. I can think of thousands of other people that it brings up too many bad memories for them to go down there, to the place where thousands died. It feels like a mockery of the pain that people went through, to walk on the grounds, take pictures and have the news write about how McCain and Obama cleared there day to pay a tribute to these people when victims of the terrorist attack’s family, it hurts the family to see the place where loved ones died.
A tragic event turned political. Why else would it be mentioned in the article? This article also talks about other ways of morning, on the beach, with friends, family, the anniversary a memorial.
If anyone else were to go down there to pay respect on any other day of the year I doubt that they would get on television, yet these two men can go down there with some news reporters gladly following them, it sickens me to think that America has made these men celebrity’s when America is for the people and should focus on the people on such a tragic day, when the people need us to support them, I don’t need to know McCain’s and Obama's 2 cents.
I feel I am not alone on this that many others agree. Not minutes after writing this I turned on the television. My Network TV had a 2008 "hero’s among us: hero awards" 8-10pm on 9.11.08. The show focuses on heroes, ordinary people getting recognized for heroic acts. What stuck out to me about this show is everyone so far said that they acted on instinct reactions not thinking it was a heroic act. The people on this show are very humble. This is the first show I have seen where the people don't feel like they deserve the award. This is a non-profit show. When I started to think about this, a lot of what I see on television is about the hate crimes and tragic events and terrorist, all depressing topics cover the news; some would wonder how many good people are there out there. I see the bad and I know there is good this show shows the good. Another thing to think about is Thomas Hobbs. He believed in every man for himself and human nature would help each other out. Seeing the news on TV I would never believe his theory would work, maybe Hobbs saw the good in people, like what “My Network TV” show shows. I can’t really quote this show but here is a video segment.

Federalists vs. Anti-Federalists
In Federalist Paper number five by John Jay, it is trying to persuade the people to be federalists. It gives some main points some are: we are now in a war and now is the time to come together, we all come from the same background and are true American citizens, and it is our divine role that these people were born where they were and we need to come together.
“United people--a people descended from the same ancestors, speaking the same language, professing the same religion, attached to the same principles of government,” Jay is trying to get the message across that before when the British were over they knew nothing about our culture and weren’t even born in America. He proposes that if American citizens are a part of the government then America will stay the same and progress to a greater level.
“This country and this people seem to have been made for each other, and it appears as if it was the design of Providence,” “for a band of brethren, united to each other by the strongest ties”. If we unite then we shouldn’t have any problems, by everyone coming together and supporting each other. John Jay believes that if we unite for the good of this country then a government would be great.
If I were put into this situation it would be hard for me to make a choice. Coming from a government that didn’t work, to trust another one would be hard. I can see that after years a government was the right idea but I don’t know if I would think that at the time. The time period that this was written was during a war. What that means to me is that the last government started a war so I don’t want more wars why would I want another government system. Another factor is trust. I can sort of tell by the way this paper was written that he is well educated but how am I to know for sure that he know what he is talking about or what kind of person he is. The last thing that I am going to mention is I don’t know him. I feel I would have to meet him and ask questions to see what he is really after. In general I if I was put in this situation would be skeptical to what I believe. That is maybe why there are so many articles and the reason it took years for the constitution to get signed and passed

Cheap Scandel
The title of an article that I read is “how not to get hacked in Chinese surgery” By Richard Gould. This immediately grabbed my attention. In China they adapted Hobbs beliefs. Hobs believed in an every man for themselves kind of life, that human nature would naturally take care of each other and we wouldn’t need a government system. This theory goes out the window when adding in the factor of the rat race. China from what I can tell has some security laws but loopholes are everywhere. For instance, the title of the article I read is titled “How not to get hacked in Chinese surgery”. It sounds to me that there is a lot wrong in this sentence involving morals. Hobs said that we could survive without a government to govern our safety. Greed and human rank got in the way of this theory.
In class I have been learning about Hobbs and the Enlightenment. What I understand about the Enlightenment is it is a bunch of theories about how our nation should at the time be run. Seeing how the Hobbs idea didn’t work in China I am grateful that the United States didn’t adapt this method of every man for himself. As you can see in this article it didn’t work and percussions have to be taken when going somewhere as simple as the doctor for surgery.
Prop Eight
Prop. 8 is about Democracy
Prop eight is for keeping the definition of marriage between a man and a woman, that gay marriage will not be legal or civil. People of the same sex can still have the benefits of being married just not the title. It is hard to find an article that is not one sided on such a sensitive subject. This article that I read by Danny Wells (accessed on 9.4.08) is for prop eight.
Four judges in San Francisco tried to make a law that said that same sex marriages are legal, however this is four judges not necessarily what the people want. This is why prop 8 will be put on the ballot this coming November. This will make sure that the law stays by the people and for the people. However what some people are confused about is are we taking away peoples freedoms by saying yes to prop eight and not letting gay people get married.
Democracy is what the majority of the people want. What the people want is what will happen. The founding fathers of the United States of America put this into the constitution. The constitution is what America is founded on and if it is for the people then the people should vote for what they believe to be right, and not four judges making the calls.
An interesting comment is made by Danny Wells the author of this article, he says that prop eight will not deny anyone the right to love just if we consider it legal or not. Now take into consideration, by love he means love and by legal he means being married. The definition “marriage” is a concept of being bound to another, a concept found in the Bible. What I think is that since gay marriage doesn’t fall under the Bible definition then these people can have a civil union. A civil union gives them the rights to the same benefits. Now if they do not like the name “Civil Union” maybe they can have a prop on the upcoming ballot to change that name to something that matches what it is. Marriage is as far as the Bible states is between a man and a woman.
My personal option, if I was old enough I would vote yes on prop eight. Everyone has there right to option as entails in the first amendment in the bill of rights. Marriage to me is a something sacred. That is between a man and a woman. I believe that it is a divine quality to be a woman. If I was to marry anyone (male or female) then why would there be different sexes? Personally I feel if the sex of a human didn’t matter then why is there a difference.
