I think that I want to focus on land and development. I see land development every day everywhere I go so I feel that I can really relate to the environment and changes around me. Something that the group talked about was deforestation. This is when they clear the forest to build industry or sometimes to grow crops. The problem with this is to accomplish this trees have to be cleared which, trees and other surrounding plants and ground are homes to many animals. Not only tearing down homes but Trees are the main source to consume CO2 and release of oxygen. Cutting down trees could make the air around the area worse with an unbalance of CO2.
The presentations helped me because I think that for senior project I have a more narrow topic of the affects on deforestation more specifically, the affect of tree loss.

You really seem to know what you want to get out of your senior and i think you have a good grasp as far as what you know about your topic.
I think that focusing on deforestation is a good idea. There are a lot of different aspect that you can focus on, like how much energy is used in the process and how that effects our environment as well as how the land changes and what impacts those changes. You can either focus on one topic or just the general idea of deforestation, either way i think you would come up on a good final product.
I don't know if a lot of research has been done on this topic as far as the air goes: you could be getting into something big and amazing. People know that trees produce oxygen and take in carbon dioxide, but I don't know if anyone knows about what the true impact is (statistically) when a lot of trees are taken away. Focusing on deforestation is a great topic for your senior project. It has a lot of different perspectives to look at. You can find out how much CO2 is exposed to our atmosphere, how much energy is being used to cut down tress for some special purposes, how it impacts on our community and our animals. Whatever topic you feel strongly about, you will make a great project.
